Week of May 8
This week we will be busy getting things ready for the most important lady in our lives... our mom!!! We are in the process of making special Mother's Day gifts that we hope you moms will love. On Mother's Day, you will be receiving an email from me (Andrea Rocco) with your child's name as the subject. Please send me an email letting me know that you were able to open it. If you are unable to open the attachment, send me an email back letting me know and I will resend it to you.
Our letter of the week is "m" and our word of the week is "mom". The sk students wrote about their love for mom today in their journals! It was so cute!
On Thursday, the Grade 6 students are selling freezies. Please see the flyer attached for more info.

Happy May!
It's hard to believe that May is here! Today the kids had a chance to get outside for recess as the rain seemed to pause for us! They are all eager to ditch their coats and hats for shorts and t-shirts.
Our letters of the week are "pl" and our word is "play". The sk students had no problem writing about what they like to play with. They are doing such a great job sounding out unknown words. Please continue to practise letter and sound recognition at home. It is very beneficial for them.
Today we are going to preview the books at the Book Fair. We will be going back on Wednesday afternoon to purchase books. If you would like your child to buy some books, please send money in a ziplock bag with their name on it and the amount. You can send it in their mailbag on Wednesday.
On Friday, we will be having Open House at the school from 8 am-9 am. Each family is asked to send in 6 nut-free muffins for the school-wide muffin breakfast. Drinks will be provided by the school.
*****Please come visit our classroom (Rm 138) for a special surprise that the children have been working on. They are so excited to show off their work to everyone.
Reminders:
Moms- please send back the form with your email address. This will be used to send you a Mother's Day present.
Playdoh Club: Please see below for the list of playdoh participants and their dates. We have been using plasticine for a little while and are hoping to get back to playdoh.

Week of April 24th
Today was an exciting day exploring and creating for Earth Week. The students were busy writing and drawing about ways they can help keep our planet clean and safe for us to live. We will be working on Earth Week activities all week and are hoping to get outside to clean up our school yard if the weather permits.
This week, we will revisit the letter y and it's associated sounds. Our word of the week is "yes". The sk students did an amazing job today writing sentences using "yes".
Today a letter was sent home requesting email addresses of the moms in the class. This is needed for a very special Mother's Day surprise from your child. Please send it back to school at your earliest convenience.
Another note will be coming home on Tuesday requesting a hanger and one of your child's shirts. They will be used for an activity for Education Week and will be returned in the same condition they were sent in. We hope you will come for a visit next Friday to see why we needed these 2 items!!
Next week is Education Week. It is a very busy week filled with many events happening throughout the school.
Monday - Book Fair viewing
Tuesday - Book Fair viewing and school mass at St. Isidore Church ( not for kindergarten)
Wednesday - Double Lunch Day and Book Fair purchasing
Thursday - Book Fair purchasing and Entrepreneurial Adventure of Grade 6
Friday - Muffin Breakfast 8-9am, Silent Auction, News Show, Jump Rope for Heart

Letter and Word of the Week
We hope you had a lovely Easter with your family!
This week, we will not be focusing on a letter or word due to Monday being a holiday. Please keep working with your child on letter recognition, letter sounds and the popcorn words which we have learned.
With the wet weather ahead this week, please ensure that your child comes to school dressed for the weather. We have had some soakers and muddy pants over the past few weeks!

Week of April 10th
What an amazing day we had today! The sun was out, the winter gear was put away and everyone was so happy! Spring is finally here!
This week we will be looking at the word "at". The children were able to come up with many examples of words from the "at" family. The sk students extended their learning by writing amazing sentences using "at". Check out their work in the pictures below.
This week we will be talking about Jesus' final days. We will be hearing about Jesus' last supper with his disciples as well as His kind act of washing their feet. The children are excited about the opportunity to reenact this kind act with their classmates. We will also be sharing some pita bread and apple juice to symbolize the sharing of bread and wine. On Thursday, we will be going to see the Grade 6 presentation of the Stations of the Cross.
Wishing you all a very Happy Easter with your loved ones!.
