Hamper Item Donations
December 5, 2016
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The Advent season has arrived and Christmas is just around the corner. Each of the classes at St. Gabriel School will be involved in our Advent project to help those in need. Each class, from Kindergarten through grade six, will contribute to allow us to prepare a “hamper” for 17 families from our adopted school, St. Elizabeth.
Each student is being asked to bring in a specific item for the food hamper. If you are able, a donation of $2.00 for the family would also be most appreciated. Monies collected will go towards the purchase of a grocery store gift card for each family, so the family can purchase a turkey and fresh fruit and vegetables. Should you still have any, we are also asking for donations of Canadian Tire money which will be used to purchase gifts for the families.
We encourage the students to complete a chore at home to earn their own money, so that they experience the gift of giving. Your child is invited to bring in 2 child toothbrushes. We will be collecting the hamper items and money from Monday,December 5th until Friday,December 16th.
** Please note we also welcome donations of hats and mittens to send to families in need in our school board.
Thank you for your generosity and support during the Advent Season.
God Bless,
St. Gabriel Catholic School Staff

This week in Rm 138
Today we had a welcomed guest, Jingles the elf! The kids LOVED seeing him hang from the ceiling and watch over us all day. I'm sure you will be hearing all about him and his mischievous adventures this month!!!
The letter of the week is "o" and the word of the week is "to". The sk students wrote amazing sentences using "to". Their writing is really coming along! Please encourage your child to sing, clap, spell, point out etc. our word each night. Have fun with it!
On Friday, December 16Th at 2 pm we will be having a little Christmas concert. We hope you can attend. Please send back the form that was sent home on Friday indicating how many people will be coming. The more the merrier! After our concert, you are welcome to stay and make a craft with your child. The kids are very excited and are working hard to learn the songs.
Our school has started it's collection for the Christmas hampers. Our class has been assigned to bring in 2 child toothbrushes per student as well as a $2.00 donation to contribute toward purchasing a gift card for perishable food items. If you are able to donate, please send the toothbrushes in anytime from December 6-16th. Thank you in advance!
