We hope you had a lovely Easter with your family!
This week, we will not be focusing on a letter or word due to Monday being a holiday. Please keep working with your child on letter recognition, letter sounds and the popcorn words which we have learned.
With the wet weather ahead this week, please ensure that your child comes to school dressed for the weather. We have had some soakers and muddy pants over the past few weeks!

Week of April 10th
What an amazing day we had today! The sun was out, the winter gear was put away and everyone was so happy! Spring is finally here!
This week we will be looking at the word "at". The children were able to come up with many examples of words from the "at" family. The sk students extended their learning by writing amazing sentences using "at". Check out their work in the pictures below.
This week we will be talking about Jesus' final days. We will be hearing about Jesus' last supper with his disciples as well as His kind act of washing their feet. The children are excited about the opportunity to reenact this kind act with their classmates. We will also be sharing some pita bread and apple juice to symbolize the sharing of bread and wine. On Thursday, we will be going to see the Grade 6 presentation of the Stations of the Cross.
Wishing you all a very Happy Easter with your loved ones!.

Week of April 3rd
Today the students had a blast turning the dramatic play area into a veterinary clinic. They were busy making pictures and signs to decorate and label this area. Today was all about setting it up and tomorrow will be a big day to use their imagination and care for our classroom stuffed animals! Oh to be a child again!
Our letter of the week is "p" and our word of the week is "spring". We started out by finding all the p's in the poem and then buttered "spring" as well as kinged the "ing".
We read a great book today which reminded us to smile a lot. The students then illustrated and wrote about what makes them smile. Their examples were so adorable!
With the warmer temperatures in our future, please remember to send in extra socks and ensure that your child has a spare pair of pants at school.

Check out our latest songs
Hello/Bonjour!
I have just added our 2 latest songs to the blog under our French songs link section, both about 'le printemps' or springtime. The children have been enjoying them in class and we are listening for words that we know in French! Please check them out at home!

Letter and Word of the Week
This week, we are looking at the letter "n". Lots of our friends have an "n" in their name! The students have been busy discovering lots of words in books that have an "n" in it. Please keep encouraging them to point out letters around them as well as practising their associated sounds.
Our word of the week is "no". We had lots of fun chanting out our no song. Ask your child to sing it for you!
We are lucky to have Yaki coming to perform for us tomorrow. It should be a fun morning for the students!
Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. We go outside if it's sunny, damp, cold etc. Whatever Mother Nature throws at us, we adapt!

Welcome Back!
We had a great first day back! The students were surprised to see tiny green foot prints on the classroom floor. The leprechaun traps were set up before the break and to our surprise, a leprechaun was trapped! The kids LOVED it!
Our letters of the week are "th". The teachers were amazed at the list of "th" words that the students generated. Our word of the week is "the". Check out the pictures showing the super writing samples from today.
We welcomed Spring today by talking about the seasonal changes that will be happening hopefully soon! The kids took an interest in rainbows and created beautiful rainbow art.
Reminders:
Please send back the quiet time blankets as well as extra socks and pants. Once the snow starts melting, the students tend to get soakers and wet pant legs.
